Devotional Thoughts
From Our Anniversary
Our first speaker at the 60th Anniversary was Rev. Harold Lutzer who spoke on
"Thankfulness" and the scripture that he used was Psalm 107. We are redeemed
by God's grace. God also offers deliverance from sin. When we are delivered
from the bondage, the sting of death, we can live eternally and die with victory.
God can heal the hurts that we experience in our life just as He healed Mr.
Lutzer's newest granddaughter.
God protects us from harm and from affliction. God sends affliction to us so
that we can be a testimony to others. They're watching; are we going to
complain or are we going to be at peace. If we have food and clothes we
should be content. The righteous are not forsaken and God will always supply
our needs.
Our evening speaker was Bruce Pringle. He spoke on POW. God tells us to rest.
The world presses on trying to get to the top.
P is for Praise.
We need to come to God with praise even though we don't feel like it.
It is better to come to God with praise rather than a grocery list or
complaints. Satan's big push is to discredit God in our eyes. He says He
can't really do that.
O is for Obedience.
To obey is better than sacrifice. Are we doing what God wants us to do?
We should try to start each new day by giving everything over to God so that
He can direct in everything that we do. We learn obedience by spending time
with Him. We have to understand Him. We need to have the mind of Jesus. God
helps us to feel strong. If we bow before Jesus here it will be easy to bow
down over there. It will be wonderful to bow down before Jesus and thank Him
personally.
W is for the Word of God.
A word from the Word can change the world. We can press on more powerfully
on our knees than we can by pressing up the corporate ladder.
