Memories of Long Time Friends"I met my husband through Western Tract Mission. I sent in a list of names and they were given to another man to send tracts to. He then contacted me to see if there was any change in the people that he had sent the tracts to. That was the beginning of a relationship that eventually led to our marriage." Martha Kliewer, Chilliwack, BC "I was attending Briercrest when we were given a name to send tracts to. I sent some tracts to a lady's son and later I found out that that man had come back to the Lord." Marguerita Cocker, Saskatoon, SK "The summer of 1960 - in between 2nd and 3rd year of Bible College, I went to work in the hospital in Velcan, AB as well as to give help to a church there. Due to an accident early in the spring, the pastor was indisposed for the entire summer. Another girl and I were left in charge of the church for the summer. One of the projects we undertook was to distribute tracts door to door. Through this we met a widow with several children. The lady accepted Christ and her older children began attending a youth group that we started. They accepted the Lord and continued to serve Him. A couple of them have gone into ministry - all because of a tract! Praise God!!" Velma Ness Saskatoon, SK "On our way to Manitoba we stopped at Moose Jaw for lunch and gave the waitress a tract before we left. On the way back to Medicine Hat I had a real desire for cabbage rolls at the same restaurant (it was one of their specials). The same waitress came to serve us and was all excited. Since reading the tract she had changed her life - got her marriage back on track. She was very grateful for that tract." Barry and Norma Buerkert Redcliff, AB "I have many happy memories of being associated with Mr. Elliott at the very beginning of the Mission Ministry. My name was sent in by a girlfriend. I was saved at the age of 16 as a result of Mr. Elliott's ministry through tracts he sent to me. I also met my husband through the Mission as he was also a distributor." Katherine (Hawrysh) Danyluk Saskatoon, SK "I remember G. W. Elliott's outreach in the 1930's. In my early Christian life I received much help in spiritual growth through tracts. I have served on the WTM Board for 27 years. It was a blessing to have the mayor of Saskatoon take the scissors from me to cut the ribbon." John D. Friesen Saskatoon, SK "In 1985 I found myself with free time and in good health. I was looking for some form of service as my motto has always been to serve others. Then the Lord brought Western Tract Mission to my mind. I stopped in and soon I was given work with packaging club lessons and tracts. When the bookstore moved out and staff changed I got into packaging and mailing orders. I have noticed that some of the regular distributors and clubs that were there when I started are still working. I have enjoyed the work and as the Lord leads, will keep on servicing Him. In His Name, Gerhard J. Wiebe We need to apologize to Gerhard for not putting his comments in the last issue of the Reflections when we had the staff and volunteers give their comments about 'Joy in Service'. |
