Have You Visited Your Doctrine Lately?
As believers in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, it is most essential for
us to know what we believe and understand the words that are commonly used
when we talk about our faith. One way to do this is to constantly read the
Bible and understand it. Knowledge of what Bible words mean is essential to understanding the concepts of our faith. It is the intent of this article
to keep us on our toes when it comes to knowing just what we believe about
the Bible and our faith. Let us begin with some of the first words in the
doctrinal statement of Western Tract Mission.
The inerrancy of the Word of God (II Timothy 3:16,17 NKJV).
What this means is that we, as Christians, can rely on the Scriptures as
being truly God's Word to us in written form. Many today think that the
Bible is irrelevent and can't bother to do what it says. This kind of
thinking is of Satan himself. This was shown in the book of Genesis when
the serpent, which was Satan, deceived Eve by questioning just what it was
the God had truly said to Adam when He told him not to eat of the tree of the
knowledge of good and evil. (Geneiss 2:17 and 3:3)
Man disobeyed God back then and still does today. That doesn't change
anything. God means what He says in His Word. He is the same yesterday,
today and forever. If this is true and it is, all of the words of the
Bible still apply to us this very day.
