Salvation Story of Nicole Simpson
As a child I was raised to be a good person. My family was not a Christian one
per se, but they did believe in good morals. When I was very young, a neighbour
would take me to church and Sunday School. I think I ultimately did believe there
was a God who had a Son. I continued going to church until I was 12. At that point
I quit going to church because there was nothing for me to do.
As a young teen I had a few friends, but we were not part of the "group" and
therefore were ostracized by our peers. I was always one of the last picked
for a team and many times made the scape goat for jokes.
In grade 10, a couple started a community youth group, and I decided to attend.
That fall we were invited to a youth retreat at a Bible college. A time was set
aside to do some sports. Fairly quickly I was picked for a team, and some of the
Bible school students made sure I was having a good time. Right there I realized
that if God loved like this, then I wanted it. That evening I answered the altar
call, giving God my heart and my future.
When I went home I found that many things would stand in my way of following
Jesus. Through some frustrating times and wrong decisions, ultimately God helped
me to progress in my Christian life. I was able to understand the direction God
wanted me to go and have the right attitude.
