Have You Visited Your Doctrine Lately?
Once more we are set to reach down into our doctrine to look at the word 'Salvation.'
Jesus Christ was the originator of our salvation by His sacrifice on the
cross. He gave His life that we might be cleansed from our sins and receive
eternal life. We learn how this happened from Matthew 1:21, 'And shall call
His name Jesus for He will save His people from their sins.'
The benefits of salvation are the restoration of our fellowship with God the
Father, overcoming the possibility of being lost in eternity forever and a
future with God in Heaven.
When we receive Jesus Christ as our Lord and Saviour, we have acknowledged
that we are sinners and are in need of a Saviour. We are then brought into
the fellowship of other believers and become part of the family of God.
We will spend eternity in Heaven with our brothers and sisters in Christ.
Without making this important decision of being saved by the blood of Jesus
there is no hope for the future. Those who have never made this decision
will stand at the Great White Throne Judgment of Christ. They spend all
eternity in torment without the possibility of release. What a horrible thought!
Finally, those who have given their heart to the Lord will have the joy of
sitting at the banquet with Him. Heaven will be ultimate bliss as we spend
our time serving the Lord in His Kingdom.
We Christians have the privilege of making sure that these horrible things
do not come upon our fellow humans. Witnessing to others of the grace of
God and the possibility for salvation through Jesus is of utmost importance
in this present day. Let us not be found wanting. It is the Holy Spirit
that does the saving, we are here to testify of the love of God to us as
spoken in the Scriptures.
