Have You Visited Your Doctrine Lately?
Previously we looked at the word Inerrancy. This time we will look at
the word Redemption. What does it mean to be redeemed?
If you read the book of Ruth, you will see how redemption is applied in the Old Testament. Read this book through for a better understanding of just how
redemption worked.
Now read the first three chapters of the book of John in
the New Testament to confirm what was true in the Old Testament. Jesus Christ
is our Redeemer. He went to the cross as a substitute for our sin. He was
sinless and we are sinners by birth. Jesus did not inherit the sin nature as
we did from our father Adam because he was born of a virgin. Sin was passed on
through the male from the beginning of the first man Adam. So, we needed
someone who was without sin to act as a sacrifice for our sin to please the
Father who is God Himself.
When we make a decision to accept Jesus Christ as
our Lord and Saviour, we have been cleansed of our sins. That does not mean
that we are without sin, even now. But when we confess our sins daily God
accepts our forgiveness. When God looks at each one of us, He sees the blood
of his Son that cleansed us from our sin once and for all. Because of the shed
blood of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary, we have new life in Christ. He
has redeemed us from our sin.
I am reminded of the words of one of the old favourite hymns, "To God Be the
Glory," - ' O perfect redemption, the purchase of blood, To every believer
the promise of God; The vilest offender who truly believes, That moment from
Jesus a pardon receives.' I ask, is Jesus truly your Lord and Saviour today?
He redeemed you from your sins on the cross at Calvary.

Other doctrinal words to think about:
Blasphemy - To take the Lord's name in vain. This not only applies to
God and Jesus Christ, but the Holy Spirit as well.r
Freedom of the will - We have been given the choice by God to either
accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour or to deny him.
Meekness - This is humility, controlled strength and gentleness when
relating to others.
Sacred - This means something consecrated or dedicated toward God.
An example is the Scriptures found in the Bible.
Theology- The study of God. It also includes the study of religious
truth as found in the Scriptures.
