New Volunteer Testimony:
Betty Eidse
I was reared in a Christian home along with my seven sisters. There was
never a time that I didn't know who Jesus was, and that He had died on
the cross for my sins. We were encouraged to go to Sunday School and church.
My mother was sick a lot and was in and out of the hospital most of the time.
She always wanted us to trust and believe in God, and pray for her daily. My
father's work took him away from home. I really felt empty without my parents.
When I was seven years old my mother passed away. I tried to be a good daughter
so I could some day be in heaven. One evening after attending a crusade in our
town, I asked Jesus into my heart.
My dad remarried when I was eleven years old and we moved to the big city.
Following Jesus became a new adventure each day, but all was not easy on my new
path. I began attending a church, and at age twenty I rededicated my life to
Christ and was baptized.
At age twenty-two, I married my best friend, Frank, who was also a Christian.
Our first son was born in 1955, and brought us much joy. He became very ill at
one and a half years old, and the Lord took him home. The Lord blessed us with
another son and two daughters.
I became a pastor's wife in 1967, and together we have served the Lord for 43
years. Altogether we served in four different churches. In 1999 we retired and
now live in Saskatoon.
My husband is still involved in the ministry. The Lord laid it upon my heart
to get involved in some Christian work. I thank the Lord for directing me to
Western Tract Mission, and I count it a privilege to serve in the correspondence
department.
