A beautiful counselor, Joyce Adrian, helped me ask Jesus into my heart at Bible Camp when I was 8. I clearly remember the joy I felt upon experiencing His loving Spirit and how it flooded my soul.
A member of a loving Christian family (one of three children), I attended Sunday School regularly, Bible camp and DVBS every summer. But it was only after I rededicated my life to Christ with the help of a close friend at 16 that I fully understood that Jesus desired a relationship with me. I was baptized a year later and I experienced such joy and peace!
I spent the following summer with Teen Missions International in southern France, part of a team of 30 teens and 5 leaders that ministered to the French people through street ministry and reconstructing a 17th century chateau into a Christian convention center. The Lord provided physical protection during a number of hazardous situations. So many times someone gave a kind word that just lifted my spirits. Isaiah 41:10 took on a special meaning and I claimed its promise. The two local missionaries were a testimony to the overwhelming love of Jesus for me. To me they were Jesus with skin on.
At home, I wanted to continue to grow in my faith. I looked forward to Bible studies with my youth group and later with friends in a College and Career group. God is so gracious and he blesses us so much!
I married Alan, my best friend, in 1989 and God blessed us with three children. We dedicated each child to the Lord and we strive to raise our sons and daughter in a way that honors Him. This is tremendously challenging and rewarding. God stretches me daily, yet He promises never to leave us hanging.
This spring at Western Tract Mission's "Drama Fest" I felt the Lord nudging me to serve Him as a volunteer. Correcting was something I could do from my home while caring for my family and working as a librarian. This is so special because I used to be a member of the Mailbox Club. Now I find myself wondering about the stories behind the names on my lessons. My prayer for each of them is that they will grow in their understanding of the Bible and grow closer to the Lord. Please pray for me as well, and for the needs of WTM.
