Everybody Ought to Know
Who Jesus Is

John Christian of Anytown, Canada, was excited to be involved in the Anytown Gospel Chapel. As a new believer, he especially enjoyed the singing during the worship service. Today they were singing an old chorus that was new to John. As the words, "Everybody ought to know who Jesus is" rang in his ears, John became lost in thought. Why should everyone know about Jesus Christ? Thinking back to his own experience a short while ago, John remembered the utter hopelessness he had felt.

As the Word said, he had been "without hope and without God in the world." (Eph.2:12). For anyone to spend eternity separated from God when Jesus had already paid the penalty for their sins would be a calamity without equal. Yes, everybody ought to know that Jesus, God's own Son, was ready and anxious to be their Savior and Lord.

As important as it was for people to be saved, John's heart raced as he thought of how God would be glorified by all those coming to Him. God was so worthy of praise and glory for who He was and what He did that this was an even more urgent reason that "everybody ought to know." How could they praise and worship Him if they didn't know Him?

As the last "Everybody ought to know..." died down, John thought about the words he had read in the book called "Malachi" in the Old Testament. God had declared through the prophet, "From the rising of the sun, even to its going down, My name shall be great among the Gentiles;" (Malachi 1:11) If it was God's declared purpose to have His name honored among people from every nation, should this not be his life goal as well?

Surely all believers would want everybody to know who Jesus is! After all, He is the Word, through Him all things were made, He is the Light, the Resurrection, the Life, the Door, the Good Shepherd, the Way, the Truth, the radiance of God's glory, the exact representation of God's being. He is the hope of glory, the image of the invisible God, the head of the body, the first and the last, the Living One!!
