Stories of Mailbox Students

A short survey of some long-time students of our correspondence Bible courses reveals some wonderful testimonies. We've edited them down, made the print smaller, and added an extra sheet in this issue to share these with you. Please remember to pray for our Correctors and our many earnest students. This is one of the most fruitful departments of our mission. (See insert for the rest).

Lena W. (15)
I starting taking Bible correspondence lessons when I was 6 or 7 years old. I found the lessons most helpful when I turned into a teenager and had lots of unanswered questions. The most special corrector to me was Lynne. She wrote me notes and told me to keep on trusting God frequently. I always loved those little messages.

When I first started, all I really looked forward to was reading the wonderful Randy and Debbie stories and answering the questions. Now that I'm older, I am learning more about the Christian life and what Jesus has done for me.

I started my Bible lessons when I was 16 years old. Friends went to Bible school at Pastor Russell Richardson's Church. I asked them if they have any Bible course and they gave me the ones from Western Tract Mission.

The lessons were very useful to me, and not too hard, or I couldn't do them. I am getting very poor eyesight.

I gave my heart to Jesus Christ on June 14, 1981. And was baptized on March 28, 1981. [Ed. She may have meant 1982?]

testimony

I was 10 when I did my first lesson. My sister Leona told me about the Mailbox Club, and I found the lessons very useful. I like how they explain what you study, and help you to understand the lesson.

When I got little tracts, from Western Tract Mission they were very useful to me. Taking the lessons taught me that Jesus loves me for who I am and that I must be very careful what I do. They taught me to love Jesus Christ and obey Him and follow Him.

testimony

Chelsea Anne D. (12)
I think I was about 9 years old when I started taking the lessons. The Bible Courses answered questions about just how dangerous Satan is and how much Jesus cares for me.

I enjoyed the stickers they put on the page and I always smile when I see their encouraging comments.

The lessons from Western Tract Mission taught me valuable lessons and my relationship with God has strengthened.

Just to let you know - I like what Western Tract Mission is doing. It's wonderful that so many people are trying to tell as many people as they can about Jesus and God's love.

testimony

I was 6 years old when I started taking Bible correspondence lessons. They gave me answers to my questions about every day issues or situations.

The Bible correspondence lessons made an impact on my life, because it helps me lead a better life and follow God's way. It also helps me remember the promises found in God's word.

I am in grade 6 and I attend elementary school in Newfoundland. My hobbies are practicing guitar and singing. I'm teaching myself how to play the song, "Create in Me a Clean Heart," on the guitar, with chords I got off the internet.

I like hanging with my friends and just having a good time! I also enjoy listening to the Wow Worship CD's. I was a Junior Soldier and now I have graduated and have started Cross Zones. I take part in the Kids For Christ (a singing group) and attend church regularly. My favorite Scripture verse has always been John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son that whoever believes in him should not perish but have everlasting life." I don't know why, it just says so much to me.

testimony

Martha N. (12)
I was 7 or 8 years old when I started Bible lessons from Western Tract Mission. I learned in one of my Bible lessons that no matter what troubles we have God will never leave us.

One impact the courses made on my life was that I started praying for people that have troubles and I had more of an idea what life was like being a Christian who believes in God. I believed in God before, but I have started reading the Bible daily.

I don't know how I would have learned that much about God if it hadn't been for the Western Tract Mission Bible lessons and for my correctors. You have made a change in my life.

I was 13 when I heard about the Mailbox club from friends. I found the information very useful, and I did Course 1, 2, and 3. I had been told the stories of the Bible, to follow God's commandments, do good, etc. I was taught how to be or act like a Christian, but I was not really ever taught how to become a Christian, how to be saved, how to accept Jesus as my Savior. The courses answered many questions I had about God, salvation, heaven, etc. I am now working on a course called: Love, Dating, and Marriage. I find this course very helpful and educational. There are many things I have learned that I had not known or only knew some of it. I am thankful to have these courses and learn from them. The course kept me from choosing wrong things and ways. They help me see what is right and what is wrong.

My first corrector was Louise Doerksen. She retired soon after I started, but I kept writing to her and still do. I have enjoyed writing with Louise and receiving letters from her. It has been special to write with Louise and her letters have been encouraging to me.

Another corrector with whom I have formed a relationship is Lynne Fraser. This relationship has been very special to me. I have been writing with Lynne for a number of years now and have enjoyed sending her letters and cards. Lynne answered many of the questions I had that the lessons did not answer. Her letters have always been encouraging and helpful to me. I have been able to share many things with Lynne through letters and her replies have always been so welcome. I had a very close relationship with Lynne. It is just the past half year that Lynne has not been writing to me because of her illness. I miss her letters, but am still sending her cards and letters. Lynne is a very special person in my life.

Now my corrector is Betty with whom I have written just a few times. But I can say that I have formed a relationship with her. I have written to her also about personal things and have shared with her. Her replies have been such a blessing to me. They have also been an encouragement and I learn from them. I have always enjoyed writing with my correctors. It has always been a joy to receive mail from them.

The lessons had a big impact on my life. They taught me more about the Bible, Jesus, Heaven, etc. They gave me a deeper meaning and understanding of many things, such as Salvation. I accepted Jesus as my Savior and became a Christian. I keep learning and learning, and wanting more. The lessons have kept me from falling into deeper sins and have led me to the right way. Without them I think that I would have done more wrong things. I am thankful for all the courses I have done, and for the course I am working on now (Love, Dating, and Marriage). I needed these courses and I hope that I will be able to continue doing them!

I started taking Bible lessons from Western Tract Mission when I was eight years old, so I've been corresponding with them for over half my life!

A friend sent in my name and although the lessons didn't always apply to me, the ones that did were helpful. I enjoyed the "Love, Dating and Marriage" (Teen Talk) lessons. There was an article in the last lesson that was really awesome. The article "I AM GOD", which was about being totally satisfied with God's love, was exactly what I need to remember. I wrote it out and gave a copy to all my close friends. Most of them are dating now, so really need that kind of relationship with God.

I remember about three years ago, I asked Lynne Fraser (who was my corrector) how to find true and lasting peace in God. She wrote me a letter and sent me a tract that was very helpful. I appreciated the letter very much. I also appreciated all the other tracts I have received from the Mission. Some of them I have passed on to others.

I also met a wonderful pen pal through the "Good News Express" newsletter. We've been writing back and forth for over two years and she's become a good friend.

The Western Tract Mission has touched my life in more ways than I ever could have dreamed. Thanks for the lessons and the love and care that you are sending to the Christian teens in our country.

There isn't really much of a story to tell. I became a Christian before I took the Bible Lessons, therefore I don't know if there has been any particular impact on my life. Though there is the odd lesson or two that is a real waker-upper. Or I should say they are the kind of eye-opener type of lessons that get me really motivated to preach God's word to my non-Christian friends.

The lessons sure helped raise a few questions. One is, what am I and about every person here at home doing about Jesus' last command to his followers? His command is "Go Ye Into All The World, And Preach The Gospel To Every Creature."

On a better note, my correctors are a constant encouragement to me and the Bible lessons are a Great Bit of Soul-Food that's right up there along with my daily prayers and Bible reading. Keep sending the lessons because I still really like doing them.

testimony

Melissa Sue W. (16)
I was 12 years old when I started taking Bible correspondence lessons. My oldest sister did them and I decided to start to do them too. They were very useful and answered questions like; Do you know where you are going? Will Jesus come back again, like he did before? When do I know when I am saved?

I formed a relationship with Lynne Fraser. Lynne marked my courses and when I had some wrong answers she explained why I had them wrong. When the questions that I had and the Bible didn't answer my questions Lynne answered them. I got really close to Lynne. I remember Love, Dating and Marriage the best because I just finished them, but I know the others stories too. I know that I love Jesus very much.

The lessons had a great impact in my life. If I had never joined the Bible correspondence lessons from Western Tract Mission I wouldn't know what I know about Jesus. I learned that you have to know where you are going. I learned that Jesus died on the cross for my sins and everybody else's. I have a very close relationship with Jesus. If I have problems I just give the problems to him. I am so happy to be one of His children. I get closer and closer to Jesus. I am so thankful that he is in my life.

I was 30 years old, when I heard about your lessons from friends. The courses have answered all my questions and were very helpful to me. Mainly they have helped me to understand the Bible better.

I didn't form a relationship with any of the correctors but would love to, that would be wonderful. However, the best relationship is with God!

I love doing the work that is sent to me. I'd love to have even more Western Tract work to do. I think that your helpers are just great too.

I was 7 when I started taking Bible correspondence lessons. My parents introduced me to them. I found them very useful. I learned some things I didn't know before. For instance, that fascinating information about the giant star Antaries!

I pray for Lynne, who is not well.

Taking the Bible correspondence lessons from Western Tract Mission helped my knowledge of the Word of God, and I thank you for that.

testimony

I didn't quite understand Revelations (and still don't totally) but some of my questions about the end times, the rapture etc. were answered. The lessons encouraged me to keep on going and not give up. It also helped me understand the book of Revelations a bit better.

The Lord bless you.

Jeanette J. (29)
I started to take Bible lessons when I was 12 or 13 years old, and my parents, John and Marleen Janzen were working for Western Tract Mission.

My parents became Christians when I was two years old. I was always involved in Clubs and Sunday School. Through the lessons I learned a lot of good information about Jesus and about life in general. I love doing the lessons and learning about Jesus.
