The God-Man Christ Jesus

Satan knows if he can make so-called Christians doubt the deity of Jesus he will destroy the very foundation of Christianity. A liberal looks upon the Bible as an antique collection of myths, legends and fables. He sees Christ as one among many teachers, philosophers, and martyrs.

Philippians 2:5-6, "Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,..." Jesus was always 100% God. Friends, there is no salvation apart from accepting Jesus as the Son of God, the Saviour of the world.

Five facts affirming the deity of Christ;

1. His birth. Isaiah 7:14, "Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel." (meaning God is with us). And in Isaiah 9:6, "For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; And the government shall be upon His shoulder. And His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." 750 years later the angel announced to Mary in Luke 1:35, "The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God."

2. His life. John, Paul, and Peter, who knew Jesus, all speak of the sinlessness of Christ. 1 John 3:5, "...In Him there is no sin." 2 Cor. 5:21, "...Him who knew no sin," 1 Peter 2:22, "Who committed no sin." In Christ we have the perfect blend of personality traits, because as God Incarnate He is perfect, sinless humanity.

Jesus had power over natural forces. He fed 5,000 people from five loaves and two fish, and gave a grieving widow back her only son by raising him from the dead. Jesus had power over sickness and disease. He made the lame to walk, the dumb to speak, and the blind to see.

3. His death. I Cor. 15:3, "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures." If Christ Jesus were a man like us, He would have had to die for His own sins. Romans 5:8, "But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

4. His resurrection. Matt. 28:6. "He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay." John 14:19, "Because I live, you will live also."

5. His return. Acts 1:11. "This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner..." Jesus is the only way to heaven. John 14:6, "Jesus answered, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me."
