After reading The Worker's Prayer, Ed Buhler led us in singing Sweet Hour of
Prayer. Our Day of Prayer on November 22, 2003, was not just one sweet hour,
but continued from 9:45 AM to a bit after 3 PM.
Some volunteers and praying friends could only come for the morning. Another
young man only came for the afternoon, but the important thing is that we prayed systematically through all the departments and needs of the mission.
Dori Krahn recorded our requests on poster boards again. We could see how many
were answered from last year's Day of Prayer, and we will rejoice next year
when we see how many of these burdens were lifted in the intervening days and
months.
Our Bible Correspondence department reported 3037 doing lessons, 140 are new
enrollments and 17 have received Christ this year. There were individual cases
to pray over, and a need for a department head.
Impact Canada saw 6 active clubs with five saved as a result of mailings, but
stressed a need for new clubs to form.
This way we progressed through the Mailing Program, Scripture Signs, the office
staff, our need for a Director or Office manager, the Emergency Measures
Volunteers - and their responses.
After a pizza lunch, we rejoiced and prayed over the fundraisers we had and
hope to have in the new year. Also our missionaries, the Harbidges and their
reports.
The Reflections Committee was excited over good issues and savings by going to
one-colour issues, and excellent testimonies as a result of our survey of some
Mailbox students. Postage funds are a constant need.
Archie Loewen gave us his Chairman's report on the overall state of the mission.
Some bequests have tided us through the past six years, and we really need a
director and new board members.
The Praise & Prayer Report (ezine) goes out to about 520 prayer partners
monthly, while the Tract Committee has printed two new tracts and reprinted two
others, thanks to our fundraisers.
The work of our web site, and the personal requests of those present were also
covered.
We were glad that Arnold has been able to do a number of guest visits at
churches, and set up the display booth at missions conferences and at Bible
Schools.
Yes, that is a lot of earnest praying! But it refreshed our souls. You must
plan to join us next time if you are within driving distance.
