The mission had its 9th Annual Day of Prayer on Saturday, November 24, 2007. We were mostly staff and missionaries present, but were also happy to have some visitors.
As we have done in the past, someone from each department or ministry arm of the mission would review the prayer requests presented the year before in our prayer booklet, and report which ones had been answered in the past year, and add a new report on the state of that department and the current prayer requests.
Everyone was free to jot these on the right-hand side of their open booklet, and then when the Director, Arnold Stobbe, announced time to pray, those who wished to pray, whether silently or audibly in turn, could glance at the list for guidance.
It was good to hear how a plan to blitz Saskatoon with the gospel grew to cover ten cities in our province, and now we hope to raise enough money to reach the other two cities, and if God provides, the rest of the province in 2008.
We especially rejoiced at the testimonies of our newest missionaries, including Priscilla Blackmore, who is raising support so that she will be able to work full-time in the office. There was not a dry eye in the room when she shared how God has provided a house for her and her daughters.
There was a precious sense of the presence of our Lord in this Day of Prayer. Just as Jesus promised, "Where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst..."
