Western Tract Mission was born in prayer. Only God has a record of all the prayers that have gone up for the tracts, for the correspondence courses, and for the special requests that come in from our readers.
When our Director, Arnold Stobbe, stepped in to fill the gap when the previous director moved on, he decided that prayer had to become a fresh priority to hold the mission together.
Staff Prayer
He instituted a staff prayer meeting on Wednesday mornings, as had been done in earlier years. It has created a special bond of love and unity among the people who work at the office most often. Together the workers do one of the lessons that are sent out to the students, then with a list that covers all the departments and aspects of the mission, including you - our students, supporters, and prayer warriors - and adding others as staff members share personal burdens, we pray through the list each week. Then we gather around the same happy table with our lunches.
Day of Prayer
There is an Annual Day of Prayer in November. We encourage our friends and prayer warriors to join us to hear updates and reports and special requests from each department of the mission. We review the answers to prayers for that department from the previous year, and then pause to allow a few people to pray for their new requests.
(Mark November 22 on your calendar and plan to join us!) Lunch is provided and when we finish about mid-afternoon, we are rejoicing at the sense of God's presence, and our faith that He will continue to provide and bless.
Praise & Prayer Monthly Ezine
We have many friends who want to pray for this mission, but need fresh news to do so. We collect reports from the various missionaries, add some informal notes from the director and a joke or smile or two, and some announcements, and send this out as an email newsletter or "ezine" to a mailing list of over 300 people on the 1st of each month. A printout is sent out with the donation receipts, and Arnold Stobbe also mails it to some who have no computer.
You are our precious prayer partners - do not fail us! Keep praying!
