New Volunteer Testimony -
Wayne Senger

Wayne Senger - a new Board member at WTM I was born in Saskatoon and have lived here all of my life, except for residing in Mexico for a total of about 15 months. I was born into a Catholic family. We attended Mass every Sunday. My father was a devout Catholic from the 'old school' belief that it is a sin to attend any church but catholic; my mother went along with this, although I think she was more open-minded regarding her beliefs.

As soon as I reached the age and life stage where I could decide for myself, I chose to stop attending mass, for I found no reality in it.

While attending university in Saskatoon, I heard the gospel clearly explained to me via the Four Spiritual Laws booklet by Bill Bright. An acquaintance from my past, now saved, went through the booklet with me. It took a number of years for me to actually pray the sinner's prayer. I was 26 when I accepted Christ, saying the sinner's prayer from my heart in the privacy of my room. God kept putting Christians in my path shortly before this time.

I was delivered from drinking beer and a foul mouth immediately after my salvation experience, and overcame smoking a few months later. About a year later, instructed only in the 'milk of the Word,' a fellow came into my life who shared interesting concepts from the Bible, and claimed to be an apostle of Christ. He rounded up a number of newer Christians, and we began a house church. Some of his doctrine wasn't quite right. To make a long story short, I learned to discern, through the help of the Holy Spirit, some of the man's errors, which also became visible in the fruits of the fellow's life as well.

By God's enablement, working in me through His grace, I have led small group Bible studies. I have been on a short-term missions team to Mexico with Campus Crusade, showing the Jesus video. I have also traveled to Mexico on my own, to visit Christians and do a bit of volunteer work.

One year in particular, I devoted myself to Bible reading and read it from cover to cover five times in that calendar year. I have enjoyed doing some creative theological writing. As well, I have prepared numerous Bible study outlines. Finally, I have experience sitting on various Church Boards, such as a Missions Board, as well as sitting on Church Council for Westmount Evangelical Church.
