Tract Review: Treasures From Jesus
When Halloween comes around, do you see it as a mission field coming to your door? Out of tradition we prepare candies as treats to give to the children, but consider how much better it would be to give them the wonderful treasures in the promises of Jesus in the Bible.
Last year a good number of people came to our Western Tract Mission office to pick up the little wee booklets called, A Child's Book of Verses, to hand out along with some candy on Halloween. (We have some other children's tracts too, but that was a newly updated one, and was very popular. So this year we have prepared a new tract especially suitable for giving out that night.
It shows some children gathering outside at recess the day after Halloween and most of them are comparing their candy loot, but Jeremy and Julie, a brother and sister are sitting at a picnic table, reciting Bible verses to each other out of a Gospel of John booklet. As the others draw near, one girl takes an interest in them, and asks if they didn't get any treats. Jeremy and Julie show them the Treats they get from Jesus by quoting and reading for the other children some of the promises Jesus gives us; peace, light, eternal life, answers to prayer, and so on.
In the end one of the other children remarks that they don't have treats, they have Treasures from Jesus! Several of them are interested in also getting such a gospel booklet.
This new tract does not berate or put down those who believe in Halloween. Rather, it shows by contrast, that those who read and meditate in God's Word have something far better. We hope that the children who read it will pause to consider this contrast and desire to have these everlasting treasures from Jesus too.
You may order the quantities you think you can distribute for a donation of about ten cents a copy. It is wise to order in advance, in case we have to wait for another print run.
