A Day of Prayer Strengthens the Runners
On November 21, 2009 a faithful group came together in the basement meeting room to review the mission's progress in its various departments, and rejoice over answers to prayer since the last Day of Prayer, while taking heart to present current requests before the Lord.
This year Darrel Miller, chairman of the Board of Gospel Echoes, which runs their ministry out of the front office in our building, joined us and shared some of their prayer needs, and recent blessings.
Some other highlights included a testimony by Eleanor, a woman born in China, sharing her touching personal journey to Christ, Priscilla's reports on the office work, the EMV and mailings, Ruth's reports on Scripture Signs, the website (using a laptop for a live visit to the control panel for the detailed web STATs), and Reflections. Arnold reported on the Hope Testimonies on the website, and how he uses them in personal witness, and also on the new tracts printed in 2009.
We paused to sing a chorus once in a while, and Joe Homontowski sang in his rich baritone voice some beloved old hymns. Pizza was ordered in for lunch.
We continued to move methodically through the booklet prepared with requests from last year - so we could see which ones were received of the Lord, and a facing page with new current requests. Penny reported on the Mailbox Club, and Joe on the SLM courses and sales, and so on.
We closed with sharing personal requests and a session of prayer for one another. We rejoiced at answered prayers from last year, and at the good challenges ahead of us.
