Team Unity at Western Tract Mission, Inc.
Of those who work here at the Western Tract Mission office some are here every day, some nearly every day, and on Wednesdays, Arnold Stobbe, the Director, and the correctors come too. We have an all-staff devotional and prayer meeting before lunch, and then eat our lunches together. There is always so much laughter and joy around that long table.
Board members come one Tuesday evening every other month for a business meeting to make major decisions about the running of this mission. They laugh and encourage and eat together around the same long table.
The one thing we have noticed over the last couple of years, and longer, is the growing sense of unity between and among all these people. Those not taking part to this degree may not be aware of it, but we treasure it. We know that many churches and para-church ministries do not enjoy such an amiable and friendly atmosphere of respect and - well a team unity.
A number of team members with experience elsewhere comment on this. Serving the Lord is more enjoyable when there is harmony with co-workers.
In this spiritual race we are not in competition with our team members. We do not race against each other. We do not have to out-do anyone. We all want to win the prize God has in store for us one day, but we know He has many prizes, so each one who does well can obtain that prize. In fact, Christ is pleased when we run together as a team and encourage and bless one another on the way, rather than elbowing, and making digging remarks to slow down another with a wounded spirit.
We praise God for our unity, but also would pray that we might never lose it. Would you join us? We always have room for one more in our ever-widening circle.
