Appreciation Tea Report
On Sunday afternoon, August 28, we gathered in our basement meeting room to recognize and honour the volunteers who have helped the mission in special ways this year.
The program was chaired by director, Arnold Stobbe. Joe Homontowski sang some solos. Hugh Pineault gave his testimony, and told of how he is using tracts to witness of the Lord now. Each volunteer was presented with a card and the brand new 2012 calendar which has lovely photos, each one with the theme from a Great Hymn of the Faith.
First recognized were those who helped fix up the rental suite last December. There was a huge thrust last year in November and December to fix up the apartment for the reliable couple that have rented and lived there before. Next, those volunteers were recognized and thanked who helped with the walkathon and the sale at Summit Meats, our fund-raisers for this year. It rained the day of the Walkathon, but a number of faithful walkers from the past, and some new ones, really came through for WTM.
Frank Eidse has been writing the devotional for Reflections, for six years. He has now resigned. Arnold thanked him for this gracious service and gave him a new calendar too. ![]() A special prayer of thanksgiving was offered up to the Lord for all these volunteers. Others prayed to dedicate the fall mass mailing for our ongoing Impact Canada project, There is Hope. At the Tea we had $19,426.53 in hand, but needed another $45,000 to reach ALL of Newfoundland. Some of that came in and we have now mailed out 89,556 copies to Newfoundland homes.
