Our Vision for the Future

How a mission or ministry sees it's future is often determined by those in leadership and those who faithfully work away at the current goals. Dreams of what can be done can shift very subtly after a successful event, or a good brain-storming session, and also as the leaders and workers wait before God for guidance. Most often the director sets the horizons.

In 2007, Arnold Stobbe first had the vision and idea of covering Canada with a shift in Impact Canada that would see us systematically mailing to every postal address across our country. We do not know how long it will take, but the Board and workers at Western Tract Mission have taken this on as a key long-range goal.

Already we can see that when we reach Quebec with our mailings, we will need a French department to handle the correspondence and French Mailbox Club courses that is likely to result. We want our testimonies in our booklets to be French that go into those homes.

We would dearly like to see the active enrolment in the Mailbox Club rise in tremendous numbers. This is our most fruitful and measurable way of seeing souls won to Christ, and then discipling them as long as they continue in the Bible study courses. The correctors can write encouragement notes and answer their questions and guide their discipleship in Christ.

Another major concern, for which we do not have a definite plan yet, is how to reach the youth generation of today and to inspire and challenge them to get involved in and through Western Tract Mission. When the mission was begun in the 1940s and 50s, thousands of teens and young adults responded wonderfully to the idea of tract distribution. That does not seem to arouse any interest in the current youth culture. So we keep asking each other - what will it take to get young people on fire for the Lord, and ready to give of themselves sacrificially to fulfill the Great Commission? Do you know?

A vision for the Future

Perhaps it means the generation that is ready to pass the torch must go into a time of earnest and hearty prayers for the young people, and for the Holy Spirit to speak to them.

Western Tract Mission is the Lord's work, and we must let Him lead us. He will take us to a Brighter Tomorrow!
