Testimony of a Teen - Alex McFie

Alex McFie - the testimony of a youth

God is so good! He has been a part of my life since I can remember. As a kid, I was surrounded by Christian beliefs and values. I went to church, Sunday School and all that good stuff. There is no specific time that sticks out when I accepted Christ. At some point, it happened. I always prayed with Mom before bed, and was constantly reminded that I was loved by God and had received salvation through Christ.

Things changed a bit when I was about 9 years old. My parents separated and then divorced a while after. My dad moved to his own apartment that I would visit every second weekend. I also eventually discovered that my Dad wasn’t a Christian. For the rest of the time, I lived with my Mom and two older brothers that supported my faith. I had to grow up a bit faster. With that, my thought process started changing and God began to grow me.

Two Christmases and two birthdays became the norm. Through everything, I could rely on my relationship with Him when I needed comfort and to simply live day by day.

Youth group, retreats and camps have increased my knowledge of, and relationship with God. On a winter retreat about a year and a half ago, God met me in a spectacular and tangible way. He answered prayer almost instantly. I asked for northern lights while Billy, Mitchell and I prayed together overlooking Redberry Lake. God revealed himself in a miraculous way that I will never forget. Psalm 19:1 - The Heavens declare the glory of God; the skies proclaim the work of His hands.

God continues His work in my life. Both a step-mom and step-dad became part of my life. God turned what I expected to be an annoying change into a huge blessing.

In June of last year, I made a last minute decision to enroll in the Saskatoon Christian School. Attending SCS has grown me in ways I didn’t know were possible; to seek the truth, and really establish what I believe.

God also blessed me with a whole new group of Christian friends that I can relate to and be real with.

The youth group here at church also play a huge role in my growth. Our get-togethers become highlights of my week. God used all of these people to display his love to me and blessed me with the opportunity to love them as well. The youth group has become more of a second family to me than anything. I praise God for all of you.

God’s faithfulness will endure forever. He's walked with me through struggles and rejoiced with me in times of celebration. He has provided guidance and revealed himself to me daily through the blessing of friends and family. (Psalm 57:9-11)
