Animism - is the belief that all natural phenomena are possessed of souls or spirits that animate them and explain their special characteristics.
Astrology - is a form of fortune telling. Positions of heavenly bodies such as the sun, moon and stars play a big role in astrology.
Augury - Augury is fortune-telling by means of interpreting omens, portents, entrails of animals, patterns of tea leaves, flights of birds, casting lots or dice, or by chance phenomena.
Charming - Charming involves the employment of magic. It may be referred to as bewitching, enchanting, becharming, casting spells and conjuring.
Clairvoyance - is the spiritualistic ability of the discernment of phenomena not usually present to the senses.
Conjure - To conjure is to call up the deceased, spirits (good, neutral, or evil) and/or the devil or demons. Various forms of magic are used in conjurations.
Divinations - is synonymous for fortune telling. Forms of divination are cartomancy, augury, crystal gazing, astrology and necromancy.
Exorcism - is the casting out of demons or Satan from a person possessed. Exorcism is more a spiritualist term than a Biblical or christian term. Religious activity such as spells, incantations, conjurations or white magic prayers are the norm. At times some Christian writers use this term, however, it is not the norm.
Familiar Spirit - In spiritualistic and mediumistic circles, a familiar or guide spirit is said to be a ehlping or good spirit that can provide help, information, guidance concerning the future, general spiritual knowledge, comfort or discernment.
Levitation - Levitation refers to the rising of physical bodies into the air, beyond the aid of any physical manipulations or agency.
Magic - This includes black, white or neutral magic. Incantations, charms or witchcraft are utilized to secure the help of a supernatural power.
Medium - an occultist who is indwelt by spirits. These spirits communicate with people through the medium.
Necromancy - involves the conjuring up of spirits of the dead. Actually demons are disguised as spirits of the dead and give information.
Occult - The term means to hide or conceal. It refers to phenomena beyond normal knowledge or perception.
Omen - An omen is an observable event or action believed to show the character or nature of a future event.
Posssession - Have an evil spirit, under the influence of a spirit; to be demonized; infested.
Reincarnation - Reincarnation is the belief that living beings possess immortal spirits or souls which at deaht live on and are eventually reborn in the form of another living being. It is a popular doctrine among occultists, especially among spiritualists.
Seance - A seance is a meeting of spiritists or spiritualists gathered for the purpose of communcating with spirits (especially spirits of the dead) and/or demons. Usually one member of the group acts as a medium.
Soothsaying - Soothsaying is a form of fortune-telling through the interpretation of dreams, visions, omens and other phenomena. Soothsayers, especially in ancient times, were said to have possessed familiar spirits that revealed the sought-for interpretations.
Sorcery - is a form of magic where attempst are made to direct or control spirits. A magician is another term for sorcerer.
Spiritism - Spiritism is the belief that mediumistic phenomena are caused by spirits, usually alleged spirits of the dead. Spiritism is very close to animism, in which any and all objects are thought to be indwelt by spirits.
Transference - Transference is the process of an indwelling spirit or demon leaving one body and entering another.
Warlock - A warlock is one given to black magic or sorcery or who has made a pact with the devil. The terms, "warlock" and "witch" have essentially the same meaning. A warlock may be a man or a woman, but usually warlocks are men and witches are women.
Witch - a term usually used in refernce to the woman but sometimes to a man - is one given to black magic or sorcery or is one who has made a pact with the devil.
Witchcraft - is the act of employing magic or sorcery with a good or evil intent. The intention is the control by demonic power.
Wizard - A wizard is one devoted to black magic or sorcery or one who is skilled in the occult. The terms "witch," "magician," "sorcerer," and "wizard" carry very nearly the same meaning.
